Upward Bound Math, Science program summer session ends

The Upward Bound Math and Science program at Marian University recently hosted its third summer college prep session for local high school students.

“The UBMS program really helped me to get ahead in my high school classes,” said Bailey Darling, a third year participant of UBMS and senior at Fond du Lac high school. “I’m passionate about science, and this program has helped me find out what college I’d like to attend and what I’d like to major in. UBMS even assists students throughout the year, through tutoring and workshops to help with the college application and financial aid process.”

“UBMS gave me the courage to break out of my shell and meet new people, as well as boost my confidence in the classroom,” said Taylor Carpenter, a third year participant and senior at Horace Mann high school. “UBMS has made school fun and interesting, and has helped me and my family learn more about colleges.”

The Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) program at Marian University provides college and career readiness services during both the academic year and the summer to students from Fond du Lac and Horace Mann high schools. Through the program, participants are able to attend classes and workshops at Marian University, visit area colleges and partake in educational enrichment trips. Summer workshops cover topics such as information technology, world languages, communication, economics, personal vision and many other personal development topics.
