FOND DU LAC - Dr. Timothy Shaw will speak on “Medicare for ALL” at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 21, in the McLane Room of the Fond du Lac Public Library.

This presentation is hosted by the Fond du Lac County Democratic Party and is free to the public.

Shaw will be speaking on behalf of Physicians for a National Health Program. The program is a non-partisan, single-issue organization advocating for a universal, comprehensive single-payer national health program. It has more than 20,000 members, and chapters across the United States.

Shaw writes, “Health care has become an unaffordable business monopoly that benefits the medical community and corporations the most, and patients the least. The United States is the only advanced civilized country without a guarantee of national health insurance. Other advanced countries spend less than the U.S. on health care, and provide health insurance to virtually all citizens.”

Born in Fond du Lac, Shaw grew up near downtown on Fourth Street, attended St. Joseph School, and graduated from St. Mary Springs High School in 1968. He is a graduate of St. Norbert College with majors in chemistry and biology. Shaw graduated from University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health in 1976. Since 2004, he has served as a Clinical Instructor at UW-Madison medical school.

Shaw has received over 20 awards, including Outstanding Intern of the Year, U.S. Army Flight Surgeon of the Year, numerous teaching awards, Soldier of the Year, many other military citations, Mentor of the Year, Best Doctor in Madison, Fox Cities and Green Bay as rated by colleagues, and a Presidential Citation from the Wisconsin State Medical Society.
